Morning Student Drop Off
We remind parents that all our students must be dropped off in the mornings before school by the carpool lane (S. Trimble Rd. side of building).  It is imperative for parents to follow this directive to ensure the safety of our students as we do not have staff in the mornings at the front of the building.  We do have staff assisting on the carpool lane at that time.
Thank you for your cooperation!!

May Remediation Program
8th grade students must pass the CRCT with at least a Level 2 on the Math and Reading sections to be promoted to 9th grade.  This year Fulton County students will not participate in Summer School classes for CRCT remediation.  Instead, Ridgeview will offer a May Remediation Program from April 26 through May 19 during 4th and/or 5th period for those students who were selected to participate.  The selection is based on two of the following three criteria:  February Checkpoints results, 2009 CRCT scores, and Semester 1 grades in Math and Reading.
We expect to receive the CRCT scores around May 10.  Those students who scored above Level 1 will resume their regular connections schedules.  Those who actually scored level 1 in Math and/or Reading will continue the remediation program.  CRCT re-test for Reading is May 24 and May 25 for Math.

50 Science Students Selected for Field Trip May 28
50 RCS students were selected by their teachers for outstanding performance in the science classroom to participate in a field trip on May 28, 2010.  The selected students will go with teachers to North Springs Charter School where they will participate in various science workshops.  Permission letters will be going home with the selected students.

CRCT Schedule:   April 14—Reading     April 15—ELA     April 16—Math     April 20—Science     April 21—Social Studies
The CRCT is a statewide test which will be administered to all our students on the above dates.  The CRCT is a very important test as it is used as one of the measures to determine AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) for schools. Additionally, 8th graders are required to pass the reading and math sections of the test for promotion to 9th grade.  Those who do not pass on the first attempt will be required to take the test again on May 24 for reading and May 25, for math.  A letter will be sent home to notify you if your child needs to retake math and/or reading.  Scores are expected back around May 10th.
No cell phones will be allowed inside the classrooms during testing—this is a state mandate.  Students will need to place cell phones, PDA’s and other electronic devices in their lockers during each morning of testing.
It is important that we have 100% attendance during testing.  Students who have perfect attendance during CRCTs will enjoy a free dance after school on a date to be announced.
